We offer monthly workshops at Ramsey's to introduce the topic of Crystal and Stone Therapy to our clients and to those who are interested in exploring this fascinating holistic technique. People often wonder about the energy in stones and they have many questions. Among the most frequent questions:
- why can some people feel the energy and others cannot?
- why is there a different 'feel' to a mineral that grows in one country or locale vs. another locale?
- how can I incorporate the use of stones into my life for healing purposes?
- is there one stone that is better for me than another?
The study of stones is a broad and deep one, and you will have many questions as your journey progresses. Like everything else, the use of stones and crystals is different for everyone. Stones can be used for healing in elixirs, by placing stones in the bath, by placing them under your pillow at night, by carrying a pouch of stones, and in many other ways.
There are many books on the subject and some of them are easier to use and reference than others. Find the right one for your style of learning. We often recommend The Crystal Bible by Judy Hall because it is simple and it has pictures and an index that will guide you in looking up conditions you wish to treat.
If you want to try your hand at crystal and stone therapy, start small. Get a small toolkit of stones to use, and don't spend a lot of money at the outset. There will be plenty of time to expand later if you are really interested in it.
Here is a list of commonly available stones to get you started. These stones will create a great foundation for your new initiative and they are not extremely expensive.
If you want to start with a set of stones to use on the chakras, get: Garnet (root chakra), Carnelian (sacral chakra), Yellow Jasper (solar plexus), Green Aventurine (heart chakra), Blue Lace Agate (throat chakra), Amethyst (third eye chakra) and Clear Quartz (crown chakra)..
